Ceremony & Ritual
As humans we have gathered in ceremony and ritual space since the dawn of time to honour life and our unique connection to the majesty and mystery of creation. I believe now more than ever we are being called to return to both the old ways and to co create & birth new ways of being in community ritual in a way that can be integrated into our world and life as we know it today.
At this time that our ancient ancestors called "The shift of the ages",a time of fast change & challenge all around us, it feel's important to have places where we can come together and add the power of our embodied prayers to the unfolding story of life on earth. Many Tribal Nations have talked about these times as being critical for us to re-awaken our connection to our deepest natures and to nature and the earth itself as a living, breathing being.
People are disconnected because of the current societal pace that often reflects a runaway train to nowhere; consumerism results in us taking more than we need, throwing ourselves and the planet out of balance. The older we become, there can be a deep sense of regret at not seeing the preciousness of life and not living fully what truly mattered to us. This work and wider dream, is anchored in remembering the majesty and un-brokenness of life and the fleeting gift it is, in all its beauty, pain and humanness.
Why the Return of Ceremony & Ritual are Fundamental for our Survival
The disconnection we’re addressing also encompasses the loss of the deep connection that indigenous cultures traditionally had with the land, community,Spirit the Sacred and the natural world. In the midst of rapid urbanization and globalization, this profound relationship has been eroded, contributing to feelings of alienation and environmental degradation.
These increasing societal pressures contribute to depression and mental health issues as well as feelings of stress and overwhelm. The limitations of our current education, health, and care systems to adequately address these issues highlight the necessity for new approaches and paradigms.
During the ceremony we are asking "Great Spirit " the mystery, the divine whatever name you wish to call the unknown .. The spirit of the dance to guide each one of us so that our time together can bring each one of us what we need; in this way , what we send out from this ceremony can be part of the huge heart call for transformation and evolution for all of life.
There are so many kinds of ceremonies going on all over our world a good time now to pray for evolution, harmony, justice and balance, taking time to say thank you to life when the sun shines upon our path and taking the time to pray and listen when the terrain gets rocky....and good to always remember we are all in this together.
